Leather changes as you wear it. The grain softens, the color can deepen and distressed finishes develop their own marks. A little care helps the band age well.
Keep it away from water
Remove your leather band before swimming, showering or activities that soak it with sweat. A water-resistant watch does not make its leather strap waterproof. If the band gets damp, blot it gently with a soft cloth and leave it to air-dry at room temperature, away from direct sun, radiators and hair dryers.
Clean gently
Wipe away surface dust with a soft, dry cloth. For a small mark, use a barely damp cloth and let the band dry naturally. Do not soak the leather, scrub it, put it in a washing machine or use alcohol, bleach, disinfectant sprays or household detergents.
Hair-on or patterned leather needs especially gentle handling. Brush lightly with the direction of the hair using a soft brush. Avoid rubbing, waxes and conditioners that can flatten the texture or change the finish.
Conditioning
If you wish to use a leather-care product, choose one suitable for the band’s particular leather and finish. Test a small hidden area first: oils and conditioners can darken leather, affect engraving contrast or change a distressed surface. Ask us if you are unsure what is suitable for your design.
Wearing and storage
Leave a comfortable fit rather than pulling the buckle excessively tight. Keep perfume, lotions, oils and sunscreen away from the leather where possible. Give a damp band time to dry before wearing it again. Store it in a cool, dry place away from sunlight, ideally laid flat or loosely curved rather than sharply folded.
Check the attachments
After fitting the band, check that both connectors and the buckle are secure. Inspect the leather, stitching and hardware regularly. Stop wearing it if a connector does not lock, hardware becomes loose or the leather is damaged around a fixing point. Contact us with clear photos so we can help assess the next step.
Natural grain, small tone differences and a developing patina are normal characteristics of leather. If an item arrives damaged or incorrect, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery.
